What affects the total cost?

Pipe runs beyond 3m, switchboard upgrades, double-storey installs, and removal of old units are the most common extras. These are quoted on site before any work starts — no surprises. The prices above are for standard back-to-back installation: the indoor unit on an external wall, the outdoor unit directly behind it, and up to 3m of refrigerant piping between them. Most bedroom and living area installs fall into this category. If your switchboard is old or full, a new circuit may require an upgrade. This is common in pre-2000 Queensland homes.
